How the Countdown Is Calculated

Formula Variants

The calculator uses days as the base unit and derives months and years from it:

months_remaining = days_remaining / 30.4375
years_remaining = days_remaining / 365.25

The constant 30.4375 represents the average number of days per month (365.25 / 12), and 365.25 accounts for leap years by averaging one extra day every four years.

Current age uses the same 365.25-day year for consistency in its decimal representation.

The integer age (years, months, days) is calculated by directly comparing the calendar dates.
